My name is Kayla and I am a self-taught artist based in Chicago, Illinois. I began painting in 2019 after feeling a deep desire for creative expression emerge! Being self-taught, most of my pieces are the result of experimentation and play. I had no idea what I was doing but I began to experiment and post my progress on Instagram for friends to see. As I continued this form of expression and communication - I noticed that I began to truly appreciate the process and felt a healing that I had never felt before. I also began to inspire others - which I definitely did not expect! Much of my work references a journey of self-awareness that has not always been easy. I am always amazed at the story that is told through line, texture, and shape. I hope to inspire you to tell your own story!
